Privacy Policy
1. What stays on your device
Your learning progress, settings, favorites, achievements, reminder time and the scores of your past writing feedback (the scores only, not your essays) are stored only in your browser (local storage and cache). We do not receive them. Clearing your browser data removes them; use the export function in the app to back them up.
2. Essays sent for AI feedback
When you press "start" on the writing feedback page, the essay and optional question you entered are sent through our server to a third-party AI provider, DeepSeek, to generate feedback. We do not store the text and do not write it to our logs. The provider processes it under its own terms and privacy policy, and its servers may be located outside your country, including in China. You must tick a consent box before anything is sent. Do not submit sensitive personal information.
3. Usage limits
To enforce daily limits we compute a one-way hash of your IP address combined with a secret value, and keep a counter against it for up to 48 hours. We do not store your raw IP address in our own database.
4. Hosting
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses and request logs to deliver and secure the site. We do not run advertising or third-party analytics trackers.
5. Payments
When paid plans are available, payments are handled by Paddle.com, the Merchant of Record for our orders. Paddle collects and processes your payment and billing data as an independent controller under its own privacy notice. We do not receive your card number. We may receive limited purchase information such as your email address, country and plan.
If you subscribe, we keep a license record: a random license key, your Paddle subscription and customer identifiers, the subscription status and current period end, and the email address Paddle shares with us (used only to help you recover access and answer support requests). We keep it while the subscription exists and for a reasonable period afterwards for support and accounting. Your license key is also stored in your own browser. When you use a license key for AI feedback, your request carries the key so we can apply your daily allowance; the key is never written to logs.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We do not use advertising cookies. We use local storage and a service-worker cache to make the app work and to allow offline use.
7. Sharing
We share data only with the recipients described above (DeepSeek for AI feedback, Cloudflare for hosting, and Paddle for payments), and only as needed to run the Service. We do not sell personal data.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data. We hold very little data about you; to make a request, email [email protected].
9. Children
The Service is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above shows the latest version.
